Rome – A man in Italy has been charged with attempted murder after furiously beating his partner over an apparent disagreement on the ingredients for homemade fettuccine, local media reported on Tuesday.
The 50-year-old attempted to strangle his Romanian girlfriend and hit her repeatedly on the head with a rolling pin after rowing with her on the right amount of eggs to be used, the ANSA and Adnkronos news agencies reported, quoting police.
The 44-year-old woman, who lived with the attacker in Castelverde, in the eastern outskirts of Rome, was found lying in the bathroom in a pool of blood. She was said to be in serious but not life-threatening condition.
The incident took place on Easter Monday, a public holiday.
