Blonde beauty Genevieve Morton is men’s mag FHM’s sexiest woman in the world.
And the Unisa student, who hails from Scotburgh, says this achievement is but a stepping stone on her road to further successes. The 26-year-old model was selected as this year’s winner following votes from thousands of readers.
“I’m excited. It didn’t seem possible at all in the beginning. But, I made it. It’s truly an honour to know readers think I’m worthy of this title,” Morton said this week. She made her debut in the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
“My other goals are to grace the cover of the American Sports Illustrated or to feature in a really good movie. That would be awesome,” she said.
Morton said appearing in the Sports illustrated magazine for three consecutive years was a “blessing”.
“That is one of my career highlights. It certainly opened a lot of doors for me. Through that I landed up on David Letterman’s show. That exposure has been tremendous.”
Morton is thankful she took a leap of faith with her first test shoot in 2005. “I worked with a wonderful photographer. It was then that I realised modelling is what I want to do.”
She said it has been her father’s support which has kept her grounded in the competitive modelling industry. “There’s nothing I don’t share with my father. He is my inspiration,” she said.
Morton is featured in the July issue of FHM alongside other contestants in the competition. The magazine hits the streets today. - Saturday Star
