London - If you take a close look at the man third from the right, it becomes obvious why church-goers in Germany are up in arms.

A recent cleaning of this 1939 painting in a church in the northern Bavarian city of Hof has revealed what appears to be Hitler standing next to Jesus.

One member of the congregation said: “It is not right under any circumstances that the biggest mass killer in history should be featured in a painting in a house of Christian worship.”

But pastor Martin Goelkel, who recently left the church, claims the likeness is coincidental, adding: “This is no Hitler homage. He looks like a rabbit before slaughter. He is a man on the edge, an outsider.” - Daily Mail
