London - An astronaut is causing a sensation in the Twittersphere by posting photos that are out of this world.

Canadian Chris Hadfield, 53, who uses the alias @Cmdr_Hadfield, has more than 430 000 followers.

They love his breathtaking photos from space as well as tweets detailing everyday life on the International Space Station 250 miles above the Earth.

Last week, he posted a photo of his spacesuit and described his morning meal of rehydrated ‘space food’ - oatmeal, eggs, juice, muffin and coffee.

And he has taken epic aerial photographs of such things as ‘Boston on a misty February night’, and tectonic plates ‘making a rift in the Andes’.

The father-of-three has been described by Time magazine as “the most social media savvy astronaut ever to leave the Earth”. - Daily Mail
