Johannesburg - Ekurhuleni's Sports Recreation Arts and Culture mayoral committee member, Dora Mlambo spent the day on Friday, with members of the South African Olympics team as they spent their 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela International Day with children who have disabilities.

The SA Olympics Team spent the day at Usizolwethu Disabled School in Daveyton, and together with Mlambo, they planted trees and showed the pupils how to extinguish fires in the event of an emergency and serving the children lunch.

Mlambo said it was important for people to give back to the community.

“Dedicating a portion of your day to honour Nelson Mandela should not be done only in July, but it should be in each and every one of us to do good to those who are less fortunate every day.”

Nelson Mandela International Day was celebrated earlier this week on Monday.
