CAPE TOWN – In a new video series, Independent Media cricket writer Zaahier Adams will be previewing and providing analysis before and after each of South Africa's games at the ICC Champions Trophy.

In the first installment, Adams takes a look at the Group 2 opener at The Oval on Saturday, when the Proteas face off against Sri Lanka (11.30am start).

South Africa have a couple of injury worries, with batsman David Miller and leg-spinner Imran Tahir facing late fitness tests, although both are expected to be ready for Saturday. Farhaan Behardien and left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj are on standby for the Proteas.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have bigger worries, with captain Angelo Mathews ruled out of the clash. Opening batsman Upul Tharanga is expected to lead the team in Mathews’ injury-enforced absence.

The 2002 champions do, though, have Lasith Malinga back in their ranks and can expect a big showing from their veteran mop-haired fast bowler.
