Cape Town - Proteas captain AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bowl first in the Tri-Nation ODI shoot-out against the West Indies in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The match is a virtual semi-final at the Kensington Oval as the winners will go through to the final against Australia at the same venue on Sunday.

The Bridgetown track is regarded as the “Wanderers” of all the Caribbean surfaces as it provides good pace and bounce compared to the slow and low dust-bowls of Guyana.

That saw paceman Morné Morkel retain his place in the starting line-up ahead of wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, with leggie Imran Tahir the only specialist tweaker in the line-up from the washed-out previous game against Australia.

West Indies captain Jason Holder has overcome his hamstring strain to take his place in the side, and said he also would’ve wanted to bowl first.

Knowing what target to chase should assist the Proteas when they bat second in what has become a knockout clash, which starts at 7pm SA time on Friday night.

Teams For Barbados

West Indies: Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin, Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder (captain), Carlos Brathwaite, Sunil Narine, Sulieman Benn, Shannon Gabriel.

South Africa: Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers (captain), JP Duminy, Farhaan Behardien, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Morné Morkel, Imran Tahir.
