JOHANNESBURG - India and South African confirmed their status as the top two sides at the ICC Women's World Cup qualifying tournament in Sri Lanka, as both surged into the super six phase of the tournament with unblemished records.

The two teams overwhelmed their opponents in their respective final group matches with India beating Zimbabwe by nine wickets after bowling the southern African team out for just 60, while the Proteas claimed a 10-wicket win against Papua New Guinea.

Once again the Proteas dominated with the ball, knocking Papua New Guinea out for just 76 in 32.4 overs.

Opening bowler Shabnim Ismael picked her second consecutive Player of the Match award as she claimed 2/13 in 6.4 overs.

There were two wickets a piece for Yolani Fourie and Sune Luus as well, while Marcia Letsoalo and captain Dane van Niekerk each picked up a wicket.

The chase was easy enough with openers, Laura Wolvaardt (43*) and Lara Goodall (28*) chasing the target in just 13.5 overs.

South Africa and India take a full house of four points with them into the Super Six phase which starts on Wednesday.

Following that the top four sides, will all receive berths in the 11th edition of Women’s World Cup which takes place in England in June.

The qualifying tournament will be wrapped up with semi-finals on Sunday and a final next Tuesday, which will earn the teams ranking points.
