Cape Town - The Cape Town council on Thursday advised residents that roads from downtown to the southern peninsula would be closed at the weekend for the city’s annual cycle tour on Sunday.
Councillor Brett Herron said the closures would also cause the MyCiTi route to be deviated.
The following roads will be closed on Saturday:
Foreshore, Cape Town CBD
Hertzog Boulevard, outbound carriageway between Heerengracht and Christiaan Barnard (Oswald Pirow)

The city said special arrangements for Sunday include a free shuttle service.
“Spectators are encouraged to please make use of this service due to limited parking in Green Point. The shuttle service will run every 10 minutes from 6am to 6pm to Thibault Square station in the Cape Town central business district and the Stadium station in Green Point,” Herron said.
The shuttle will also stop at the Civic Centre station from 2pm onwards.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, organisers of the Cycle Tour, appeal to all residents in Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Clifton, Bantry Bay and Sea Point (including Victoria Road and Beach Road) not to park along the Main Road on the day of the event. Residents should please use alternative side roads or designated parking areas.
“I wish all participants a safe and pleasant race. I also want to thank our road users and commuters in advance for their support and patience on the day of the Cycle Tour,” Herron said.
