London - Andy Schleck pulled out of the one-day Brabantse Pijl race in Belgium after suffering a minor hand injury, his RadioShack Nissan team said on Wednesday.

His team added the Luxembourg rider, who is set to be officially crowned the 2010 Tour de France champion later this year after Alberto Contador was stripped of the title for doping, should be fit to take part in the Ardennes classics.

Schleck crashed with 70km left on Wednesday and abandoned shortly afterwards in a race won by France's Thomas Voeckler.

“The doctor said if my hand still hurts tomorrow I should have it x-rayed but I feel confident that there isn't a problem,” he said in a team press release.

Schleck, who also pulled out of the Paris-Nice and Tour of Catalunya stage races earlier this season, is expected to start Sunday's Amstel Gold Race before riding the other two Ardennes classics, the Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. - Reuters
