I have not heard many people bigging up the 19-year-old before this final, but let’s not forget he brought Manchester United to Stockholm.
His wicked free-kick in the first leg of the semi-final against Celta Vigo and his cross for Marouane Fellaini’s header in the second means United still have a chance to turn this average season into a good one — and he only started playing because Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered an injury.
Every time I have seen Rashford play I have thought he was a special talent. His pace and movement is exceptional and I believe he is up there with the best young strikers in Europe.
Now he gets the chance to lead the line in a European final and I expect him to turn up once again. Rashford needs to improve his goalscoring ratio, but star on Wednesday night and he can put pressure on Harry Kane for an England starting spot.
This is a defining moment for Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. They came to Old Trafford as shining lights of English football but it seems Jose Mourinho is unconvinced.
Jones, 25, is likely to start alongside Daley Blind and has a huge opportunity. Michael Keane is set to return to United in the summer so Jones needs to show Mourinho why he must stay. I would be loving that challenge.
Smalling will be hugely disappointed to miss out on the final with Eric Bailly suspended due to his red card in the semi-final.
