Johannesburg – Louis Oosthuizen continued to lead the way for South Africa on seven under par upon the completion of round two of the weather-interrupted Open Championship at St Andrews on Saturday.

Oosthuizen, tied fourth, completed his final six holes to card 70 to go with his opening 67 on Saturday, after play finished in the late evening after gale force winds made play impossible earlier in the day.

Severe flooding suspended play on Friday at St Andrews, when the second round was delayed by more than three hours. Players were then greeted by the high winds on Saturday, delaying play once again. It also means the tournament will now end on Monday for the first time since 1988 when the late Spaniard Seve Ballesteros won at Royal Lytham.

American Dustin Johnson maintained his lead on 10 under after shooting 69 to go with his first round 65.

Retief Goosen could not replicate his sublime play on day one where he carded 66, but instead had to settle for a level par 72 on day two and tied 10th place. The two-time US Open champion missed six fairways on his way to making three bogies, offset by three birdies for his even par effort.

Charl Schwartzel was also on six under, after a second round 72 following his opening 67 for a place inside the top 15.

Branden Grace could only manage a level par 72 for 25th spot to remain at three under after an opening 69.

Thomas Aiken (69) and Ernie Els (73) both ended at level par for 36 holes in a tie for 62nd right on the cut mark.

George Coetzee missed the cut as he ended the two rounds on three over. Jaco van Zyl also missed the cut, but tied the low second round by a South African with a three under 69 to get to four over for his two rounds.
