Durban – Louis Oosthuizen overturned a five-shot deficit with a final-round six-under 66 to win the Volvo Golf Champions European Tour event at Durban Country Club on Sunday.
The South African ended on a 16-under 272 total for the week, and edged runaway third-round leader Scott Jamieson of Scotland by a single shot.
Oosthuizen birdied two of his first three holes to start the day, before adding two more on holes six and eight.
The 2010 British Open champion then had two birdies in a row from the par-five 10th, and another followed on the par-five 14th.
His only drop shot of the round came at the par-four 16th after he was unable to get the ball up-and-down from a greenside bunker.
Coming down the 72nd hole, Oosthuizen held a two-shot lead over Jamieson, and the South African was able to par the hole to hold out for the win.
Jamieson needed to sink his second shot at the final hole, and came within centimetres, but Oosthuizen did enough to deny the Scot.
It was Oosthuizen's sixth European Tour win, and with the victory he is expected to move up two spots in the world rankings to a career-high fourth. – Sapa
