Budapest - Yulia Prokopchuk of Ukraine won the women's platform diving title at the European swimming championships on Thursday.

Prokopchuk compiled 338.00 points from her five final dives to eclipse Austria's Anja Richter (332.35) and Germany's Christin Steuer (330.40), with defending champion Tania Cagnotto of Italy back in ninth place.

"I finished 12th at last year's world championships and now I'm European champion. That's really unbelievable," the diminutive 19-year-old Ukrainian said.

Germans Tobias Schellenberg and Andreas Wels regained the men's three-metre synchronised diving title they won in 2000.

They scored 403.86 points to win from Yuri Kunakov and Dmitry Sautin of Russia (401.46) and defending champions Nicola and Tommaso Marconi (394.68).
