The result dashed South Africa’s chances of a rare series win over the Australians, with the first Test having ended in a 3-3 midweek draw, before the hosts beat their visitors in Friday’s memorable 1-0 victory.

The match was won and lost in the first half as South Africa headed into the break trailing 2-0, before Shelley Russell scored the only goal for the home side 16 minutes from the end, as Australia kept South Africa at bay.

Next up for South Africa is a six-Test series Belgium, starting on Sunday. – Sapa
