South Africa have lost prop Trevor Nyakane and lock Lood de Jager to injuries ahead of the series-deciding third Test against Ireland in Port Elizabeth.

Nyakane, who can play loosehead or tighthead, failed to recover from an ankle injury sustained in a second Test triumph last Saturday.

De Jager, who suffered a calf strain during the shock first Test loss to Ireland, has also been released from the squad.

The Springboks have been hard hit by injuries with No. 8 Duane Vermeulen ruled out of the final Test due to an elbow injury.

Ireland won 26-20 in Cape Town and a dramatic last-quarter comeback earned South Africa a series-levelling 32-26 triumph in Johannesburg. – AFP
