Johannesburg - Springbok flyhalf Morne Steyn has been called up as a replacement to the South African squad ahead of the second Test against Ireland at Ellis Park on Saturday.

According to Business Day live Steyn's agent Johan van Greune confirmed the player had answered the call to be added to the Springbok squad, following the concussion Patrick Lambie sustained in South Africa's 26-20 defeat to the Irish over the weekend.

Lambie received a blow to the head during the first half from Irish flanker CJ Stander, which prompted a red card for the forward reducing the tourists to 14 men. The Stade Francais flyhalf was told about his recall on Sunday while he was on holiday in South Africa.

Steyn, a 60-Test veteran, has scored 694 points for his country as a lethally accurate goal-kicker. Elton Jantjies is expected to start at number 10, with Steyn providing cover from the bench. - African News Agency (ANA)
