Madonna di Campiglio - Michael Schumacher's crash at Silverstone - which cost him a broken leg -was just a distant memory on Tuesday as the Ferrari driver went skiing at this chic resort.

Schumacher, who arrived by helicopter, soon tried out a pair of skis, showing no ill-effects from the accident at the British Grand Prix last July which cost him his shot at the world title.

Schumacher's new Brazilian teammate Rubens Barrichello was, meanwhile, packed off for his first-ever skiing lesson.

"It's a bit difficult," Barrichello said.

The Ferrari team, who visit the Dolomites every year for a sponsors' event, will be busier next week with the Formula One tests in Barcelona (Jan 17-21) which will involve both their drivers. - Sapa-AFP
