Port Elizabeth-based club – Chippa United – is ready for the toughest game this coming weekend. Chilli-boys take on the most feared team in South Africa currently – Mamelodi Sundowns – in an MTN 8 game scheduled to start at 15:00 on Sunday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

This is the most anticipated game this coming weekend without a doubt because it involves an in form Sundowns – a team which is in bullish mood after a convincing victory over industrious SuperSport United a week ago and Chippa United, which currently plays the most exciting football that is much loved by followers of the game.

Chippa United midfielder and captain, Thamsanqa Sangweni, says they are prepared for anything that comes on their way. The Chilli boys started off the 2016/17 PSL season superbly by winning their two opening games (one League game against Free State Stars and MTN 8 game against Platinum Stars) and now are hoping to for a positive result when they meet the Sundowns in front of their supporters.

“Our pre-season was very good, but now we are busy working on our mistakes. For the game against Sundowns, I can say that we are ready and every body is working very hard,” Sangweni tells the Independent Media.

The visiting team boasts about its three dangerous players known as CBD: Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly. Unfortunately for Downs, their reliable man, Castro, is going to miss this game due to ankle injury he picked in a game against Matsatsantsa a Pitori a week ago at Loftus Stadium – his place is expected to be taken by the newly signed Sibusiso Vilakazi, who scored on his debut.

“I do not wanna lie, we have no special plans for certain individual players – we are treating this game like any other game. The focus is on our game plan. Our main aim this season is to do well in the PSL and win something for our supporters,” says Sangweni.

Even though Mamelodi Sundowns is also involved in the Caf Champions League games, Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane, has indicated that he wants to do well in this highly contested competition.

Chippa United will likely rely heavily on players like Sangweni, Rhulani Manzini – who has a good eye for goals, Andile Mbenyane and James Okwuosa.
