Donetsk, Ukraine – Andriy Shevchenko was unable to participate in Ukraine's open training session on Sunday, casting doubts as to whether the star striker is available for the Euro 2012 co-hosts' decisive group D match against England.
The 35-year-old sat out of training in Donetsk with a knee injury.
“He received a knock in both games. He has fluid build-up in his knee,” said a Ukrainian team spokesman.
Shevchenko scored twice in Ukraine's 2-1 victory over Sweden. Should he be ruled unfit to play against England on Tuesday, one option for head coach Oleh Blokhin would be Marko Devic.
Nearly 1,000 spectators came out to watch the Ukrainian team practice.
Ukraine have three points ahead of their final group D against England, who along with France have four points. Sweden are already eliminated with zero points. – Sapa-dpa
