Madrid - World Player of the Year Lionel Messi set another record in Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo on Saturday as he scored for the 19th consecutive league game.
That meant the Argentine has now scored against every other side in La Liga in the run, becoming the first player to do so in the history of Spanish football.
Messi has scored a total of 29 goals in the 19-match streak and took his tally for the season to 56 in all competitions with his side's second against relegation threatened Celta at Balaidos.
Barca assistant manager Jordi Roura lauded another incredible individual achievement by the little Argentine.
“It is a unheard of record that no one has ever achieved. This shows how great this player is. With time what this player is doing will be valued even more,” said Roura. - Sapa-AFP
