London – Jose Mourino has given the clearest indiction yet that he is on the way back to England.
The Real Madrid coach, whose side face Borussia Dortmund in next week’s Champions League semi-final, has told friends he is leaving the Bernabeu.
Mourinho has been sounded out about a return to manage Chelsea and Manuel Alvarez, president of Spanish club Canillas, where Mourinho’s son Jose trains, told a Spanish radio station: “Mourinho told us that he won’t able to give us his usual technical talk to our coaching staff next season because he’s not going to be here.
“If Mou leaves it will be a big loss for Spanish football. I hope Florentino (Perez, Real Madrid president) can sort it out with him.”
According to a story widely circulated across Spain last night, Mourinho was shown a photograph of Chelsea celebrating a trophy on an open-top bus and said: “I’ll be on that bus next season.” – Daily Mail
