London – Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said he expects Raheem Sterling to see out the remaining two years of his contract at the Premier League club.

Liverpool called off planned talks with the winger after his agent was quoted as saying he would not sign a new deal even if Liverpool offered 900 000 pounds per week.

Sterling has already rejected a new 100,000 pounds per week deal but Rodgers said “the situation is quite simple.

“Raheem, whether there are talks or no talks, has two years left and I expect him to see that through,” he said.

“I’m sure talks will take place over the summer. I don’t see Raheem as being unhappy.

Rodgers added he also has no plans to drop Sterling for the league season-ender against Stoke, saying: “Raheem will be available

for selection. My relationship with him hasn’t been affected at all.” – DPA
