Benni McCarthy is the new head coach of Cape Town City! In case you have forgotten, the 39-year-old former Bafana Bafana striker from Hanover Park on the Cape Flats, enjoyed a stellar career as a player.

Here's six reasons why Benni is rated one of the best SA football players:

* He holds the record for international goals scored for South Africa, a whopping 32.

* At the age of 21, Benni scored four goals in 13 minutes against Namibia during the 1998 Afcon group stage.

* In 2002 he became the first football star from Africa to make the cover of TIME Magazine.

* He was at Porto when they won the Uefa Champion’s League in 2004 under the guidance of "The Special One" Jose Mourinho.

* He was the second top scorer in the 2006-07 Premier League with 18 goals, beating Ronaldo, Rooney and Van Persie.

And no list would be complete without this absolute South African classic!
