Cape Town - There have been several reports linking Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keagan Dolly with a move to Europe, with Greek giants Olympiacos FC reportedly at the front of the queue.

Dolly was South Africa's standout performer at the Rio Olympic Games - the attack-minded midfielder from Johannesburg had social media buzzing with his performances, while there has been subsequent talk that several European clubs are interested in the former Ajax Cape Town man.

While there was initial speculation that French club Rennes, the home of former Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus, were in the mix, it has been Athens outfit Olympiacos who have emerged as the strongest candidates for the 23-year-old Dolly's signature.

Sundowns claim to have had no official offers for their prized asset, but the Soccer Laduma website claimed this week that Olympiacos have indeed submitted an offer, believed to be in excess of R12 million (less than one million Euros), which is the player's current buy-out clause on his contract.

Time however is running out if the deal is to happen - the transfer window closes on August 31 in both Greece and South Africa. Olympiacos are set to take part in this season's UEFA Europa League play-offs.

Dolly has become a vitally important member of the Sundowns side over the last couple of seasons, and forms part of the tripe alliance known as 'CBD' - the other members being Khama Billiat and Leonardo Castro.

Last season he missed only one game, scoring four goals in the league and a further four in cup competition, as well as several assists.

He hails from the same suburb in Johannesburg as South Africa international Steven Pienaar, Westbury, and also begun his career at the School of Excellence in Gauteng before moving to Ajax, via the Sundowns development academy
