Johannesburg – He won’t be back for Friday night’s Absa Premiership encounter with Bloemfontein Celtic in Cape Town, but Ajax Cape Town striker Tashreeq Morris could well make a return to the action in January.

The 21-year-old, Ajax’s top scorer last season, has been out with a knee injury since May last year, when he was forced off in the Nedbank Cup final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to head coach Roger De Sa however, Morris could soon come into the reckoning for selection, and when he does, De Sa expects the player to be even bigger and better than before.

“Tashreeq Morris is still not ready. He’s looking sharp at training, but we still need his doctor’s clearance. So hopefully he’ll be able to go into full contact soon, and once he gets the clear, I think it’ll be a week or two before we see him in the starting line-up,” said De Sa.

“He’s looking good, and I think we will see a new ‘Tassie’ with about five kilograms of muscle added to that athletic build of his, and we can’t wait to see him back,” he said.
