Morton, Pule set to join AmaZulu

JOHANNESBURG – Bafana Bafana duo Michael Morton and Boalefa Pule will be plying their trade at AmaZulu next season.

The pair, who are at SuperSport United, were both bench-warmers at Matsatsantsa a Pitori, but made made a significant contribution to Bafana’s quest to qualify for the African Nations Championship (Chan).

A source closed to the two players told Independent Media that the duo are on their way to Durban.

“Morton and Pule will be playing for AmaZulu come next season. The deal is good as done,” the source said.

SuperSport have a lot players in midfield, where Morton is operating, with captain Dean Furman, Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane and Cole Alexander.

Goalkeeper Pule is currently down in the pecking order, with incumbent Ronwen Williams keeping his deputy Reyaad Pieterse on the bench

A few weeks ago, Williams extended his contract with SuperSport for a further five seasons.

AmaZulu team manager Qedi Dlamini confirmed that they are in talks with the PSL team regarding certain players, but refused to mention their names.

“Yes, we are talking to various PSL clubs about signing certain players. The positions that we want to beef up are central midfield, upfront and left back.

“I don’t want to disclose the names of the teams and players we are negotiating with, because that might jeopardise our talks. Let us wait and see until everything is finished,” Dlamini explained.

AmaZulu have already signed a few players – Jabulani Ncobeni, Ayabulela Konqobe, Sduduzo Dlamini and Mhlengi Cele – from the NFD champions Thanda Royal Zulu.

Also in the Usuthu squad are Sadat Akoriko, Thembela Sikhakhane and Siyethemba Mnguni.

Former Kaizer Chiefs left back Sphiwe Mtsweni is undergoing trials at the club, which are also in talks with Mamelodi Sundowns regarding Bongi Ntuli.

AmaZulu are in the PSL after buying the status of Thanda Royal Zulu.
