Johannesburg – Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic said there was no need to panic following his team's 2-2 draw in the Absa Premiership against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Free State Stadium on Wednesday.

It was a hard-earned draw for Pirates which came on the back of a shock 2-1 defeat against Soweto rivals Moroka Swallows in the opening league clash of the season.

The loss provided an early dent to the ambition of the Buccaneers to reclaim the Premiership title.

“Sure there is room for improvement,” said Vermezovic.

“We conceded two goals following dead ball situations and this is not something I expect from my team.

The Serbian born coach said his side showed great character for fighting back after trailing twice against Celtic.

Vermezovic said a trophy haul this season remained the objective.

“It is early days in the league race and obviously it would be better to have six points than one.

“But there is a long way to go in the season and I am confident the results will soon turn around.”

Despite drawing both their matches in the season, Celtic coach Ernst Middendorp said his team had the talent to beat any team in the Premiership.

“We are not in the title race to make up the numbers,” said the German-born coach.

“We have the ability to win honours and have slipped up from gaining maximum points through making silly defensive mistakes.” – Sapa
