Johannesburg – Absa Premiership newcomers Polokwane City have fired their coach, Duncan Lechesa, Supersport reported on its website on Monday.

This followed a dismal start to their PSL campaign.

The Limpopo club plummeted to the bottom of the log following their 2-1 home defeat against Golden Arrows. That was their fourth straight defeat in the top flight. The owners had lost patience with Lechesa and fired him.

Lechesa got the team promoted but their lack of activity in the transfer market meant reliance on the same team that campaigned in the National First Division.

As their current predicament shows, life in the Premiership is a lot tougher than in the NFD.

The website reported that City players were informed in the morning about Lechesa’s dismissal.

Their masseur and physical trainer were given the responsibility of training the team in the morning. There is no word yet about the replacement. – Sapa
