PRETORIA – The ongoing CAF C License course run under the SAB League Skills Camp has been lauded by SAFA’s Technical Director, Neil Tovey as the 10-day programme heads into its fourth day.

The League Skills Camp, which is host to coaches from all corners of South Africa, is the brainchild of the SAB League – the country’s largest football development league, played across the 52 SAFA regions.

The AFCON 1996 winning captain believes that the SAB League’s new and matured approach to football development is playing an integral part in SAFA’s mandate of football development and achieving it’s set objectives of Vision 2022.

"Proper development of football starts with coaches at an amateur level," Tovery said.

"Through such programmes, improvement in the standard of the SAB League and amateur football is inevitable and will assist in making the dreams of playing professional football possible for youngsters.

"All this can be achieved through such programmes organised by SAB and SAFA."

SAFA’s coaching instructors are sharing various coaching methods with the coaches, who are expected to emerge out of the course with an up-skilled level of coaching. The coaches were also given an experience of analysing a highly competitive match during Tuesday, evening’s Premier Soccer League match between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars.

This will form part of the overall evaluation of the coaches. The League Skills Camp continues at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
