Centurion – Rik De Voest helped South Africa to a 3-1 win over Monaco in the Davis Cup Euro-Africa Group Two tie after defeating Benjamin Balleret in the reverse singles match on Sunday at the Irene Country Club in Centurion.

De Voest won his match 7-6 (2), 6-2, 6-3 to hand South Africa the winning point.

Following the doubles victory on Saturday, where Australian Open runner-up Raven Klaasen and Ruan Roelofse defeated Monaco's Thomas Oger and Guilluame Couillard 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, the hosts came into the fourth match with a 2-1 lead over Monaco.

It was a tight opening set as both players held serve, forcing a tie-breaker where De Voest rallied to win the set 7-6 (2).

He continued to pile on the pressure to easily win the next two sets, sealing victory for the home side. – Sapa
