London - Justin Bieber has conquered one of his greatest fears by swimming with sharks in the Bahamas.

The 'Never Say Never' hitmaker has been splashing around in the water with some Nurse sharks – which grow up to 14ft and weigh over 700lbs, but usually don't attack humans – while on holiday at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club on the exotic island with his friend Lil Za, TMZ reports.

The 19-year-old star and Za were spotted playing around with the feared creatures, despite the 'Beauty and a Beat' singer previously saying he is scared of the animals.

Justin – who has been in an on/off relationship with Selena Gomez – revealed last year how he hates sharks so much it often puts him off swimming in the sea.

He said: "I'm afraid of sharks. I have [swam in the ocean] but I don't like it. I'm just scared of sharks I guess."

Despite not having a penchant for sharks, Justin has swam with their aquatic neighbours, dolphins, on several occasions and treated his fans – who are known as Beliebers – to a number of pictures of him with the adorable marine mammals. - Bang Showbiz
