It’s seems that age really is just a number, especially for Green Mile star Doug Anthony Hutchison and his new wife.

The 51-year-old actor recently married country singer Courtney Alexis Stodden, who is jus 16 years old.

Doug Hutchison is best known for his critically acclaimed role as prison guard Percy Wetmore in the film adaptation of Stephen King's The Green Mile.

The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas last month and Hutchison has posted a picture of himself and the former Miss America contestant on his website.

According to reports in Daily Mail, the couple have had to defend their relationship against people who fell the their ages are an issue.

'We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial,' the couple told E! Online.

'But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless.'

In Las Vegas the age of legal consent is 18, however the age may be reduced to 16 with parental permission.

Courtney's mother Krista Stodden told RadarOnline.com: 'We are totally supportive of this marriage. Doug is a wonderful man and we love him.'

Krista says that her daughter is a “good Christian girl”, and that “they are very much in love and we are so supportive of this. Courtney was a virgin when she married Doug.”

Courtney does not look 16 at all but her mother has denied rumours that she’s had surgery to make her look more “mature”.

She said: “She is a beautiful girl. She has real breasts, real lips, she's not plastic.”

Judging by her website, it appears that Courtney’s country music career is being managed by her new husband, who is listed as the primary contact person for all her business affairs.

Her site describes her as a 'recording artist, singer/songwriter, actress and model who currently resides in Ocean Shores, Washington, as well as Hollywood, California'.

The teenager signed with a modelling agency at the age of 12 and by 15 she entered Donald Trump's Miss Universe Organisation, becoming Miss Ocean Shores, Washington, and going on to represent her city in the Miss Washington USA Pageant. - IOL
