London - She married her rockstar beau in a modest ceremony earlier this year, picking a dress she’d worn five years ago and turning up in a battered old Renault Clio.

But when it came to her marital home, perhaps Keira Knightley felt it was finally time to spend some of her superstar fortune – splashing out £4million on a sprawling ‘family-sized’ London property.

The 28-year-old actress snapped up the five-bedroom house after putting her previous property on the market in September this year. She sold her East London townhouse just three years after buying it for £2.4million.

Her lavish new home features a gym and a wine cellar in the basement, and measures a massive 2,775 sq ft. It is found in one of London’s most exclusive areas, which is known for its quiet residential streets. According to the estate agents, the property is ideally laid out ‘for family life’ and has plenty of space for dining or entertaining as well its own garden.

Knightley was introduced to James Righton, the singer and keyboard player from indie rock band Klaxons, by presenter Alexa Chung in 2011. They married in the French hilltop village of Mazan in May this year.

Last year the actress revealed that despite wanting children, she thought it was still too soon to start a family – as it could stop her pursuing her career. - Daily Mail
