Durban - Curry and KFC topped Kendrick Lamar’s menu during his short stay at the luxurious Oyster Box Hotel, before his sell-out concert in Durban on Friday and his flight to the Mother City to entertain locals at the Bellville Velodrome ton Sunday.

The Poetic Justice star arrived in South Africa on Friday for his much-anticipated three-city Miller Boomtown tour.

Lamar, who is a seven-time Grammy nominee, brought his A-game to Friday’s show, even performing for an extra hour to celebrate his first visit to the African continent.

A source at the hotel said the US rapper had checked in around 4pm with an entourage of six people, including his bodyguards.

“The first thing they wanted was KFC. They disappeared and came back with bucketloads of KFC, and then went into their suites.”

Lamar also stopped at the Phinda Game Reserve in Zululand to view the Big Five before checking in.

“Yesterday (Saturday) morning he went to the beach and had breakfast on the beach, and was surprised by the warm waters.

“He said he really loved KwaZulu-Natal, and that it was very beautiful.”

For breakfast he had curried eggs, which he enjoyed.

“He didn’t order any alcoholic drinks, and they were on their best behaviour.”

According to the source, Lamar even spent time with the resident cat, Skabenga.

Lamar performed at Gold Reef City in Joburg on Saturday night, and will make his last stop in Cape Town on Sunday.
