Award-winning actress Saranya Ponvannan recently revealed that she had no interest in venturing into films and had always dreamt of being a homemaker. OneIndia.in’s Avinash Gopinath takes a look at what would have been the career choices for some top Tamil celebrities if they had not made their mark in the entertainment industry…

Ajith

It is no secret that Thala Ajith’s passion lies with racing cars, even today. Wanting to become a professional racer, Ajith ventured into modelling only to financially support his racing career. The rest, as they say, is history.

Suriya

Suriya was interested in the garment export industry and worked at a factory for six months. He also revealed that he had no interest in acting as a career, but was forced to because of his family situation.

Vishnu

Vishnu was a professional cricketer playing in league games until a leg injury ended his career. He then went on to become a successful actor which was planned by destiny.

Trisha

Trisha had initially aspired to become a criminal psychologist, and resisted the thought of pursuing acting as a career. However, her success in the world of modelling forced her to rethink things.

Madhavan

Madhavan was interested in public services like the army, the navy and the air force. However, he was rejected by the air force as he was just six months older than the regulated cut-off age.

Sivakarthikeyan

Sivakarthikeyan grew up seeing his father as a respected police officer and wanted to follow in his footsteps. He decided to take part in a TV reality show just to support his higher studies and is now a successful actor.

Jai

Born into a family of musicians, Jai has stated that music was close to his heart and that it influenced him in his early days. He has completed fifth grade in keyboard from Trinity College, London, and has a dream of becoming a musician someday.

Anushka

Anushka was a professional yoga instructor and revealed that she always wanted to take her career forward as a yoga teacher.

Arjun

Inspired by Bruce Lee’s 1973 film Enter the Dragon, Arjun began training in karate at the age of 16 and also holds a black belt. His first love remains karate.

Namitha

Namitha is proficient in karate, swimming and badminton. In her early days, she used to teach swimming to young children in Surat where she was raised. She once said that if not an actress, she would have become a swimmer as that was her first passion. – oneindia.in
