THE INDIAN International Film Festival of South Africa (IIFFSA) 2014 is hosting an annual film festival that will transform the lives of dynamic, previously disadvantaged, talented South African film-makers.
The Film Festival runs until January 23 and marries India’s best with Mzansi’s own film-makers.
“The South African film industry is transforming and we see a prospect of joining forces, using the experience we have from India, to combine the two by awarding three scholarships to work with the best Bollywood directors,” said Rajiv Terwadkar, Director of Utkarsh Projects Private Limited.
IIFFSA will showcase various feature films, short films and documentaries at Ster Kinekor (Joburg, Durban, Pretoria and Cape Town), Gaabo Motho Cultural Village in Hebron, and The Village Reagile Community Cinema in Katlehong, Gauteng.
“We aim to connect African and Indian cultures using cinema as the medium. We hope to discover and train budding actors and film-makers, as well as to start community development projects both in African and India.”
