Los Angeles - The fifth instalment of the movie franchise Pirates of the Caribbean will hit the silver screen on July 7, 2017, the Hollywood Reporter said on Wednesday.
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, was set to be released two years earlier, but was delayed due to work on the script, the paper reported.
Joachim Ronning (Kon-Tiki) and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) are set to direct the project.
The last sequel, 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, had an estimated budget of 250 million dollars (about R2.63 bn) and grossed 1.04 billion dollars. - Sapa-dpa
