NOT SINCE YOU

***

Emotionally engaging

FILM: Several years after graduating from NYU the same year as 9/11, a group of old college friends are reunited at a wedding.

The tension among them is palpable as each one is struggling to come to terms with past issues. Each situation lends itself to another as they each try to get closure on past wrongs.

Howard Stieglitz (Jon Abrahams) still hasn’t forgiven his best friend Billy Sweetzer (Will Estes) for dating his then girlfriend, Victoria Gary (Sunny Mabrey).

Meanwhile, the unresolved feelings between the now-married Amy (Kathleen Robertson) and her ex, Sam (Desmond Harrington), puts strain on her husband.

Then there is children’s book author Sarah (Sara Rue), a very bubbly and caring person who, in helping Joey (Elden Henson) deal with his alcoholism as a result of the emotional trauma brought on by 9/11, finds love.

Not Since You explores a plethora of emotions from anger, desire and love to forgiveness. An engaging romantic drama with an attractive cast, which brings the characters to life.

Love makes us do crazy things and this movie certainly magnifies that fact. Schmaltzy ending aside, the melodrama offers much to revel in.
