London - Jennifer Lopez felt like her "whole world had fallen apart" after her divorce from Marc Anthony.

The 43-year-old beauty - who has four-year-old twins Max and Emme with the singer - could relate to her 'Parker' character Leslie Rogers, because she was still getting over the end of her seven-year marriage while shooting the movie in 2012.

She explained to People magazine: "I had just went through my divorce, Leslie had gone through her divorce. She's back living with her mom - what woman in their 40s wants to have to move back in with her mom? It's a bad time in her life. At that time in my life, I felt like my whole world had fallen apart.

"Leslie, even when she's down on the bottom and everything is bad at that time, she won't give up. She still has a glimmer of hope."

The former 'American Idol' judge - who is now dating dancer Casper Smart, 25 - revealed the crime thriller's director, Taylor Hackford, personally called her up to offer her the role, sensing she could bring a fighting spirit to the character.

She explained: "He called me and he was like, 'I have a part for you,' and I was like, 'Really? Oh, cool. What is it?' And he was like, 'You know, I've been watching you on 'American Idol', and I love that girl. I love her, but that's not who I want. But it made me think something in this character. When I see you there, I think you never give up. You keep going.' "

Jennifer wed Marc in June 2004 and the couple welcomed twins Emme and Max, four, into the world in February 2008.

The pair separated in July 2011 and Marc filed for divorce in April 2012. - Bang Showbiz
