A handful of Christians carrying anti-Lady Gaga posters gathered outside the Big Concerts offices in Gardens on Sunday to protest against her South African concert.

Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform at FNB Stadium, Joburg, on November 30 and at Cape Town Stadium on December 3.

Sunday’s’s protest came after a similar gathering by members of the SA Council of Churches in Pretoria last month.

The same group held a picket outside the concert organisers’ offices on Friday.

The SA Council of Churches has taken a strong stance against Lady Gaga’s pending tour.

Protester Abraham Warren said they believed that Lady Gaga was a “destroyer of sound values with her promotion of perversion and her songs such as Judas were a mockery to Christianity”.

He added: “Allowing the bride of Satan into the country will allow a curse to enter.”

Council members marched to the Department of Arts and Culture’s Pretoria offices to hand over a memorandum last month.

In a petition on its website, it said Lady Gaga was a self-confessed “Satanist”.

“The name Gaga is the name of a demon. Her lyrics denounce the name of Jesus.

“The tickets are sold out, all for devil worship, while over 30 million children are hungry.”

It called for a ban on Lady Gaga, saying her performances in South Africa will lead to a degeneration of the youth’s moral values.

This is not the first time the star has been slammed. A group of Christian youth in the Philippines recently protested against Lady Gaga’s Born This Way tour, saying her music mocked Jesus Christ and God.
