London - A man has been sentenced to six months in jail for stealing a piece of the car in which Paul Walker died.

Anthony Janow, 26, from California, admitted to stealing a roof panel from the Porsche Carrera GT in which the 'Fast and the Furious' actor died on November 30 last year, aged 40.

Janow has been handed a six-month jail sentence, as well as three years of formal probation by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lloyd Nash.

In August, he entered a no contest plea to felony grand theft and misdemeanor counts of destroying evidence, in addition to obstructing a police officer.

Jameson Brooks Witty, his 19-year-old co-defendant, was also sentenced to six months in county jail and three years formal probation on August 14 for his part in the incident.

Shortly after the theft occurred, Witty took to Twitter to post a picture of the red roof panel taken from the car wreckage.

He boasted: "Piece of Paul Walker's car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light."

Paul and his friend Roger Rodas both died after the latter lost control of the Porsche Carrera GT in Santa Clarita, California, causing him to hit a pole and a tree and for the car to burst into flames. - BANG Showbiz
