Conrad Hilton is under house arrest.

The younger brother of Paris Hilton has been banned from leaving his home at night after breaking his $100 000 (about R1 205 665) bail by failing a drugs test, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

The 21-year-old socialite was previously arrested over a 10-hour meltdown while on board a British Airways flight from London to Los Angeles last year, during which he reportedly screamed threats at flight attendants.

In court documents, he confessed: "I told all of them I could get all of their jobs taken away in less than 30 seconds."

During the flight, Hilton repeatedly used the bathroom to smoke marijuana and tobacco and intimidated the unnamed flight attendants, according to the plea agreement.

“You need to stop squaring up to me,” he screamed at one, according to the document. “I am going to f***ing kill you.”

Hilton also swung at, but missed, another airline worker, the document showed.

A criminal complaint stated that during Hilton's tirade, children on the flight began crying and other passengers were frightened.

“I will f***ing own anyone on this flight; they are f***ing peasants,” Hilton said, according to the complaint.

However, Conrad - who is the great grandson of the founder of the Hilton Hotels chain, also called Conrad Hilton - has now admitted to violating the terms of his bail bond by smoking marijuana, and has been placed under a curfew until his case comes to court.

Newly released court documents filed in California on 30 April state: "The conditions of defendant Conrad Hughes Hilton's pretrial release in this matter are hereby amended to include a curfew restricting defendant Conrad Hughes Hilton to his residence every day from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. All other pretrial conditions will remain in effect as previously ordered."

The news comes just months after a plea deal resulted in his charge being dropped from a felony to a misdemeanour assault charge, meaning prosecutors will recommend probation as opposed to jail time when he is sentenced later this year.
