THE SUMMER sun will be sizzling next month when Heat magazine’s Hot 100 is released.

Readers have until today to vote for their favourite local and international stars on heat.co.za

Olympic gold medallist Ryk Neethling was the first South African to win the Star of the Year title in 2008. He managed to scoop it again in 2009 and last year.

Other South African stars to win the title were electro pop duo LCNVL and Oscar Pistorius, in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Now in its 10th year, the Hot 100 is the ultimate celebrity popularity test. Former international stars to win the award include Victoria Beckham and Brad Pitt.

Next Friday, a special feature will showcase all 100 stars who made it onto the list as voted by the readers.

Those who vote will also stand a chance to win prizes to the value of R17 000.

“What sets Heat Hot 100 apart from other celebrity popularity competitions in this country is that local stars have to compete with international counterparts.

“For a local celeb to be crowned king or queen of Celebville is no easy feat,” Heat magazine’s editor Andre Neveling said this week. – Staff Reporter, The Star
