This show gives new meaning to the word “frenemy” and proves just how thin the line can be between love and hate. We explore true stories so shocking they have to be seen to be believed. From two best friends who turn on each other when a third girl transforms their solid duo into an unstable trio, to two girls who grow up the best of friends, only for things to get rocky when they become lovers. These stories reveal that the most intense and cherished friendships are often the ones that lead to the most tragic and unexpected crimes of passion.

VERA, ITV Choice, 9pm

Brenda Blethyn returns as DCI Vera Stanhope in the detective series based on the works of author Ann Cleeves. Set amid the beauty of the Northumberland landscape, Vera investigates crimes only she can solve. The shambolic but perceptive detective does not make friends easily. Grumpy and short-tempered, what Vera lacks in charm she makes up for in wisdom. In the fifth series, Joe’s promotion means there is a new member on the team. DS Aiden Healy will have to get used to Vera’s dry wit as they investigate a body found at a caravan park. The performances and high production values have earned Vera a reputation for classic crime drama.
