Going on a fun-finding mission

PHINEAS AND FERB - "Moon Farm" - Inspired by the lost verse from the rhyme, "The Cat and the Fiddle," the boys decide to take some cows to the moon to see if its low gravitational pull actually does produce the best tasting ice cream ever. Back at home, Candace decides to take advantage of the boys being gone and attempts to make a fancy dinner for Jeremy, but her lack of cooking skills don't add anything to the plate. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz attempts to use his 'Moisture Suck-inator ' to turn his neighbor's plants brown, so that his plants will be greener by comparison. This episode of "Phineas and Ferb" airs FRIDAY, APRIL 29 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. (DISNEY XD) PHINEAS, FERB

The school holidays are always an exciting time for youngsters who anticipate the break from institutionalisation. But it’s usually just a few days into the holidays that boredom threatens to convert the time off into a period of dreariness – but not for step-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher.

They are on a mission to use up every moment of their 104 days of summer holiday to conquer boredom with an array of adventures and inventions – including building a roller-coaster in their backyard.

Since the series began, the nine-year-old siblings and their posse of friends – including a crew of techno-savvy girl scouts – have come up with some interesting inventions.

Phineas’s and Ferb’s (voices of Vincent Martella and Thomas Sangster), adventures are endless with their pet platypus, Perry (who is really a secret agent), and his arch-nemesis Dr Doofenshmirtz adding to the escapades. And, of course, there’s big sister Candace (voiced by Ashley Tisdale), who is always on her counter mission to get the boys “busted”.

In an interview with Tonight, Phineas and Ferb creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire (Family Guy) and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (The Simpsons and Rocko’s Modern Life) explained their series: “We always remembered what fun imagination is and what fun it is to build things as kids in your back-yard,” said Povenmire. “We spent most of our childhood outside, but today’s kids have so much to do with video games and computers and social networks. It’s a good thing for kids to be encouraged to go out and do things.”

The third series, which starts this weekend, launches with a special themed episode.

It’s Phineas’s birthday and Ferb creates a clip show to help him celebrate with montages that include Phineas and Ferb inventions, Perry entrance gags, Perry traps, Doofenshmirtz’s inators (inventions) and more.

Candace tries to bust her brothers once and for all, while Perry must stop Doofenshmirtz from using his non-inator to pre-empt his brother’s biography from appearing on television.

lPhineas and Ferb airs on Disney XD on Saturday at 8.15am. It premieres on Disney Channel (DStv Channel 303) at 8.50am on Saturday, September 24.
