Amelia Lily’s mentor Kelly Rowland had swooned after the contestant’s first audition, saying: “I am still having a hard time understanding that you’re just 16 years old with such a natural gift.
“You were born to do this. Period. You have only scratched the surface - that’s what’s got me so amazed.”
Miss Rowland sent Amelia through to the judges’ houses stage, in which she sang E.T., originally by Katy Perry. After her performance, Miss Rowland said: “Wow. That made me think, “Katy who?”
“She sang that song like ‘Oh no, I wrote this, this is my song’.”
Miss Rowland remained full of praise as she sent the singer through to the live shows, saying: “I admire that you kept wanting to be better.”
Sadly for Amelia, the compliments counted for nothing on Sunday night, when the judge unceremoniously dumped the youngster from the show without any explanation. - Daily Mail
