A ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ without Ridge? It’s a prospect too ghastly to contemplate for fans of this popular US soapie, but it’s also one they’ll have to get used to.

Actor Ronn Moss, who has played fashion mogul Ridge Forrester since the inception of the soapie in 1987, will no longer be a part of the long-running saga.

Moss reportedly parted company with ‘B&B’ over salary issues.

“Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with ‘B&B’,” said a statement by production company Bell Phillip Television.

“We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavours.”

Moss’s salary dispute is said to be indicative of a time in which soaps are struggling to maintain the monopoly over daytime TV that they once enjoyed.

‘Bold and the Beautiful’ trails rival ‘Days of Our Lives’ in the US in terms of viewership figures, but remains the most profitable of the soaps due to a dedicated international audience.

Moss will shoot his final scenes on the soap on Tuesday, and his final episode will air in the US in September.
