WHAT has been the highlight of your year so far?

My birthday. My wife organised a big party for me and invited friends from all over the country. We had a great evening!

Favourite Durban restaurant, mall and local leisure activity.

I don’t have a favourite restaurant or mall. Leisure activity? I really love driving along the coast.

The movie you most enjoyed in the last 12 months? And your favourite film of all time?

I have not seen a movie in the last four years. I do not have time. My all-time favourite movie is The Devil’s Advocate.

The album currently in your CD player?

I’m listening to my latest CD Crosspower Experience 2. I am checking for things I may want to change before it is released in September.

Favourite meal? And least favourite?

I love pasta and chicken. I do not like beef.

How do you keep fit?

I park far from mall entrances to be able to walk there. And I try to avoid junk food.

The three best things that make South Africa great?

Resilience. Ubuntu. Madiba.

The word or phrase you most overuse?

Cannot think of any.

One thing about yourself that you’d love to change?

I procrastinate. Why? I’ll tell you later.

How and where did you celebrate your last birthday? And when is your birthday?

At Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg. On June 10. Great party!

Dream holiday? And with whom if it could be a fantasy date?

I would love to travel all over the African continent and experienced the different cultures. I’d go with my wife and kids.

If you could be an animal what would it be?

A lion. It’s strong and fearless.

Personalities you most admire?

African women who raise their children singlehandedly with minimal resources and trust in God.

Some things you truly love? And some things you detest?

I love God, my wife, my family, my church and my friends. Also books, music and shoes. I detest a misplaced sense of entitlement, selfishness, greed, mediocrity, racism/xenophobia and envy.

What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?

It was when I fell on stage while performing with Joyous Celebration at the Market Theatre in Joburg.

Favourite actor, actress, author, singer and TV show?

I like Al Pacino and Meryl Streep. Authors and singers? Too many great ones to single any one out. TV show I like? Big Bang Theory.

Three things you have to do before you die?

Travel the continent of Africa. Write all the books I start writing and do not finish. Be all I can be, and as honestly as possible.

What are you reading at the moment?

The Bible and about eight other books.

Your three favourite cities?

Johannesburg (it’s the whole world at home), Durban (it has a rich culture, brilliant weather and an amazing, ever-green landscape) and New York (a melting pot of the world cultures).

A few things about yourself that most people don’t know?

I love designing women’s clothes and furniture. I can play soccer well. I am a very private person. I am afraid of rats. I was born in Soweto. I never studied music.
