Vanilla Ice has been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service after being charged with burglary and grand theft.
The 47-year-old rapper, who was arrested in February after reportedly stealing a pool heater, bicycle, furniture and other items from a residence adjacent to a Florida home he was renovating for his 'The Vanilla Ice Project' DIY show, will have the felony charges officially dismissed as long as he stays out of trouble for the next nine months.
The 'Ice Ice Baby' hitmaker, who initially claimed he found the items on a curb before his foreman told police he entered the house and took the stuff, has also been ordered to pay $1 300 in restitution and do 100 hours of community service with Habitat for Humanity, according to gossip website TMZ.com.
Following the hearing, he wrote on Twitter: “Moving forward, staying positive. NEW SEASON SAT 10:00 pm. Anything less than the best is a felony. Hee hee. Joe LoRusso @acriminallawyer (sic)”
The rapper - whose real name is Robert Van Winkle - previously admitted he “got in a little bit of a mess” and hoped to put the situation behind him.
He said: “I'm doing alright. Got in a little bit of a mess, but we'll get through it.
“Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery.”
